With the financial support from the European Commission, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the World Health Organization, the first AAAH Conference was held on 28-31 October 2006 in Nonthaburi and Ayuthaya, Thailand by the IHPP-Thailand. The goal of the conference was to create a platform for regional members and global partners to work towards short and long term development of better health workforce system in all countries in the region, and to ensure that health systems are capable of responding effectively to the challenges of HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria, accelerating progress towards the health MDGs and responding to current and emerging threats like SARS and pandemic flu.
